Welcome from Bishop Eusebio
To All the Cursillistas: De Colores! God, in his infinite love and care for his church, gives his graces and charismas to men and women in our midst who unfold for us his treasures. Cursillo has been an incredible gift to the universal church throughout the world, and I have experienced the benefit of it in my personal life since my childhood in mexico where my parents where deeply committed with the movement for many, many years with great joy. The Archdiocese of Seattle has enjoyed the wonderful Cursillo charisma for many years now and hundreds of families have been blessed with authentic endless peace; I pray the blessed Virgin Mary will give you the strength and docility to keep on ministering in our Archdiocese of Seattle for many years to come. Thank you for all you have done and count on my prayers and support. Yours in Christ and our Lady of Guadalupe +, What Is Cursillo?
No one can fully explain how God touches each person in his special and unique way throughout the various elements of the Cursillo Movement. One definition states, "The Cursillo Movement is a movement of the church which by means of it’s own method makes it possible for people to live what is fundamental for being a christian, and to live it together; it helps people discover and fulfill their personal vocations, and it promotes the creation of core groups of christians who leaven their environments with the gospel.” more... The Seattle Cursillo Secretariat in collaboration with the Region XII Coordinator and National Staff is organizing a Spanish Cursillo de Cursillos (CDC) at Camp Don Bosco, Carnation, WA the weekend of September 22-25, 2011. The Cursillo de Cursillos is a weekend for men and women Cursillistas to deepen our understanding of the Foundational Charism of Cursillo. It is an opportunity to re-energize the apostolic drive of current leaders in the Movement as well as to motivate and encourage new leaders for the Movement. Our Seattle Cursillo movement is in constant need to renew its leaders. The Secretariat has planned this CDC as a means to form and inform our Spanish Cursillo community on the foundational principles of Cursillo and about the meaning of participating in its leadership. If you are a Cursillista currently discerning whether to make Cursillo your primary apostolate, then the CDC is for you. If you are not yet discerning whether to join the leadership of Cursillo, but wonder about its implications, then this CDC is also for you. I would like to invite you to prayerfully consider participating in this CDC. The CDC is open to all Cursillistas who have lived the weekend whether they are active in SOL or not and it offers an opportunity to make new friends and rekindle old friendships. The CDC begins on a Thursday evening at 7pm and concludes on a Sunday evening at around 5:30 pm, just like a regular 3-day Cursillo weekend. The CDC is a cloistered weekend; therefore, participants should make plans to stay at the site the entire weekend. The team will consist of Cursillistas from California, Florida, Texas and Eastern WA. Since space at Camp Don Bosco is limited, we need to know the number of participants in advance in order to plan accordingly. Therefore, attendees need to preregister. We ask that you complete and submit this registration form. Also, the proposed agenda and guidelines for the CDC are here. I thank you in advance for sharing your time, talents, and treasure and pray that Our Lord Jesus Christ bless you and your family.
Your brother in Christ, De Colores!
SUPER ULTREYA: Growing in Humility and Prayer
The Seattle Archdiocese Cursillo Community organized a Super Ultreya on Saturday, April 2nd, 2011, at St. Madeleine Sophie Parish, Bellevue, WA to welcome our new Archbishop Peter J. Sartain. The event started with a Mass celebrated by Archbishop Sartain and concelebrated with Auxiliary Bishop Eusebio Elizondo (National Episcopal Advisor for Cursillo), Fr. Jim Picton (Pastor of St. Madeleine Sophie Parish), Fr. Jim Dalton (Spiritual Advisor for Seattle Cursillo - English); and assisted by Deacon Anselmo Pardo (Spiritual Advisor for Seattle Cursillo - Spanish) and Deacon Gene Vanderzanden (former Spiritual Advisor for Seattle Cursillo). The Mass and Super Ultreya had an attendance of over 400 cursillistas. Archbishop Sartain has been a Cursillista for 30 years (he lived his Cursillo in 1981) and knows and understands the charisma of the movement very well. His homily message was about the importance of growing in humility and prayer in our lives. In his message to the Cursillo community at the Ultreya he encouraged us to continue to live our mission as one Church across cultures and age generations. The May 2011 Spanish edition of The Progress is here: www.seattlearchdiocese.org/Ethnic/Hispano/progreso.aspx. See article "Hundreds Welcome Archbishop Sartain in a Super Ultreya." There is also a May 2011 publication of the event in the English version of The Progress, but I cannot find the online version anymore at the new Archdiocese web site.
