Our mission is to evangelize the world through the formation and support of small groups
of adult Christians committed to the work of Christian renewal in civil, social and economic life.

Welcome from Bishop Eusebio

Elizondo

To all the Cursillistas:

De Colores!  God, in His infinite Love and care for His Church gives his graces and Charismas to men and women in our midst who unfold for us His treasures. Cursillo has been an incredible gift to the Universal Church throughout the World, and I have experienced the benefit of it in my personal life since my childhood in Mexico where my parents where deeply committed with the movement for many, many years with great joy. The Archdiocese of Seattle has enjoyed the wonderful Cursillo Charisma for many years now and hundreds of families have been blessed with authentic endless peace; I pray the Blessed Virgin Mary will give you the strength and docility to keep on ministering in our Archdiocese of Seattle for many years to come. Thank you for all you have done and count on my prayers and support.

Yours in Christ and Our Lady of Guadalupe +,
Eusebio Elizondo m.sp.s., Auxiliary Bishop of Seattle

What is Cursillo?

No one can fully explain how God touches each person in His special and unique way throughout the various elements of the Cursillo Movement. One definition states, "The Cursillo Movement is a movement of the Church which by means of it’s own method makes it possible for people to live what is fundamental for being a Christian, and to live it together; it helps people discover and fulfill their personal vocations, and it promotes the creation of core groups of Christians who leaven their environments with the Gospel.”     more...

Request for Donations for Cursillo Movement
(Mar 18, 2009)

March 17, 2010

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

May the peace of Our Lord Jesus Christ find you happy and in good health. I greet you as a new lay director of the Seattle Archdiocese Cursillo Movement. Following the great example of my predecessor Ms. Natalie Vieira who established a tradition of seeking stewardship support from all our Cursillo community during Valentine's Day, I would like to reach out to you on St. Patrick's Day.

We live a moment of Grace in the Seattle Archdiocese Cursillo Movement with the support of our Auxiliary Bishop Eusebio Elizondo, M.Sp.S. who is also Episcopal Advisor to the National Cursillo Movement. Thanks to the apostolic action of our schools of leaders every year about 250 Catholic families are touched by Christ through the Cursillo weekend experience.

Weekends support weekends, but there are other infrastructure expenses that will help the Seattle Cursillo move forward. We must reserve and pay in advance for the Cursillo facilities and the meals consumed at upcoming weekends, the materials distributed at the weekends (Pilgrim's guides, crosses), our membership fees to the National Cursillo and Region XII, and stipends for priests who serve as spiritual directors during weekends who often come from distant archdioceses or even countries.

Everything the movement does throughout the year comes from sharing time, talent, and treasure of committed cursillistas like you. I would like to ask you to please make a tax-deductible donation to the Seattle Archdiocese Cursillo movement. As a reference, the current break-even cost of a participant candidate or team member at a weekend is $110.00, but any donation is welcome.

I ask you to prayerfully consider sharing your time and talent by joining a school of leaders. "Jesus turned and saw them following him and said to them, 'What are you looking for?' They said to him, 'Rabbi, where are you staying?' He said to them, 'Come, and you will see.'" (Jn 1:38-39). I invite you to "come and see" the work of Cursillo at our leaders' schools.

I thank you in advance for sharing your gifts and talents and pray to Our Lord Jesus Christ to continue to bless you and your family.

Your brother in Christ, De Colores!
